Why are you starting in Horicon, WI? when the Rock River actually starts in Allenton, WI? You missed many of the local communities when you start your effort in Mayville?
Yes, I do realize that the Rock River does actually begin somewhere upstream of Horicon, (exactly where has already become a source of debate). Example: Wikepedia states that the Rock begins in, and I quote, "It rises in southeast Wisconsin, in the Theresa Marsh near
Theresa, Wisconsin in northeast Dodge County, Wisconsin approximately 17 miles (27 km) south of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin." When I view my map on Map Quest, it shows the East Branch of the Rock beginning somewhere upstream of Allenton. Not only is it already a source of contention where the East Branch actually begins, but therefore it poses new questions, "Exactly where does the East Branch meet with the West Branch to form the Rock River as a whole?" - "Which branch is the main branch, East or West?" - "Where does the South Branch fit into this mix?" So, with these questions in mind, and the sources available to me at the time, it looked as if all of the various branches came together into the marsh at or near Horicon and together with the marsh, form the Rock River as we know and love it.

So, I want to volunteer to help on clean-up day, Can you tell me where to be and at what time? (Paraphrased)
Where to be on clean-up day will be determined by which communities or areas decide to join with us in this effort. Sections will be listed on this web-site as section coordinators submit their registration information to Rock River Sweep.org. The exact location of the clean-up registration/assembly area for each site will be determined by the section coordinators and will be publicized locally through their local media and any other means that they may choose to advertise, flyers, their web-sites, etc. If they choose to submit that information to us, it will be posted in the Featured Section area of our home page.

What time to be at the designated clean-up site will also be determined by the local section coordinators and publicized in the same manner.

How is Rock River Sweep.org funded?
Rock River Sweep.org is presently funded by private and corporate donations and grants. One of the principles Rock River Sweep.org was founded on is that the people of this great country will gladly and generously support a worthy cause, even in hard times. Staying within that premise, we actively seek donations and grants only from private citizens, organizations, and businesses at present.

We believe in the generous spirit of the American public and that we can function effectively without the use of tax dollars. It’s up to you to prove us right.

What do you do with all the money that is donated?
Donated funds and grant monies are used for expenses such as are listed below:
- Web development, maintenance, and hosting fees.
- Printing of hard copy Organizer’s Handbooks and newsletters for distribution at various events such as promotional presentations, canoe shows, boat shows, etc.
- Printing of cards to be distributed to the public for advertising scheduled events.
- Purchase and shipment of door prizes for the Rock River Sweep clean-up.
- Packaging and mailing supplies, postage, paper, and labels, etc.
- Although we encourage our section coordinators to solicit local merchants, businesses, and individuals to donate required supplies and/or services for their local clean-up effort, we realize that sometimes this is not possible and therefore, we will selectively use funds to support local clean-up efforts as may be required and approved.
- Future clean-up and revitalization expenses yet to be determined.

At present, Rock River Sweep.org is a volunteer organization and as such, we have no paid staff. No part of your donation is spent for promotional clothing, decals, etc., these expenses being borne personally by our volunteer staff, and no part of your donation is used for reimbursement of expenses by our staff. All expenses generated in the operation of this organization are presently paid out-of-pocket by our volunteer staff.
